How To Select Diamond Engagement Rings

For long years, diamond engagement rings are considered as a wonderful symbol of commitment, ever lasting purity, devotion and love. Thousands of couples from different areas in the world have considered diamond rings for their engagements and it's nice to know that with proper care, diamond rings can last for a lifetime.

Now, if you are thinking of buying a diamond engagement ring for your fiancée, note that finding the right ring is not as easy as you may think. Guys who may be thinking of buying this item must see it as a luxury as the diamond ring is after all the third priciest item that you can purchase in your lifetime. With this, the purchase of diamond engagement rings should then be considered seriously and carefully. It is also for this reason that most men think about the purchase ahead of time, about one to three months of research before they make their decisions.

There are two important parts of the diamond engagement rings that need to be considered when choosing for the right one. The first part is the so-called "setting", and the other part is the "band". Well, let's take a closer look to these parts.

The Setting

When choosing for engagement rings, it is best to look at the setting of the ring first. The setting is basically the part which holds the diamond in place. It is usually made of platinum, and this is true even if the ring is gold. According to some claims, the platinum is used as a setting for diamond engagement rings because of its unparalleled strength and durability. So it follows that the right diamond engagement rings are those with settings that are made of platinum.

There is another option for selecting the right ring through the setting. Many buyers tend to get four or six prongs. Prongs are actually the claw-like wires that used to hold the diamond in place. Experts say that a ring setting with four prongs will show you off more of the diamond; however, those with six prongs will hold the gem more securely. So if you intend to wear the ring regularly, the ring with six prongs on its settings could be the best options for you to consider.

The Band

When it comes to the band, or the part that surrounds the finger, there is only one thing that you need to decide - the size. Well, to obtain the best size of the ring, try to visit the jeweler and ask to have the finger ring of your fiancée sized. However, in this way you need to bring your partner with you so to obtain the measure. If you want a sort of "surprise", then I think there's no great way that you can do than to borrow a ring that your partner currently owns and bring it to the jeweler to be measured. Be sure, however, to return the ring to your partner as soon as possible.

Aside from the size, you can also select the right diamond engagement rings band based on the materials used. Usually, the band is made of either platinum or gold. Gold has attained a good reputation in the jewelry making, but since a pure gold tends to bend, many jewelers typically alloyed it with nickel, copper or zinc. The platinum, on the other hand, is said to be perfect if your partner is allergic to metals or if you want to have a silver band that will never stain.

Choosing the right diamond engagement rings is simply a matter of choice. It's a matter of personal style or taste, so use your own personal sense of style and make it to guide you in selecting the right diamond engagement rings.
